Everyone is familiar with the Gin Sour's cousin the Tom Collins. Then there is the oh so common Tom Collins cousin, the Vodka Collins. Then there is the Brandy Collins, John Collins,... well I guess you get the idea. So, then there is the Sandy Collins, AKA Jock Collins*, which is something like that cousin that no one ever talks about. Next time you're having a party give the following a try.

Sandy Collins

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz Scotch
  • 1 oz Lemon juice
  • 1 tsp superfine Sugar
  • 3 oz Club soda
  • 1 Maraschino cherry
  • 1 Orange slice

In a shaker half-filled with ice cubes, combine the Scotch, lemon juice, and sugar. Shake well. Strain into a collins glass alost filled with ice cubes. Add the club soda. Stir and garnish with the cherry and the orange slice.

* I prefer Sandy over Jock for obvious reasons. I find the drink goes well with talk of semantic externalism, testimonial knowledge, and metalogic.
